History museum of Sisian – 2016

,,Dear visitor ,welcome to the page of our events.  Everything in the museum is done only with love and  dedication. We remember every moment  that  first of all we deal with  people  from Zangezur who are  unique- dedicated, recalcitrant-patriot individuals. We are on border of  homeland,,…..

 In 2016 nine men from Sisian were died in April war. On November the museum organized a commemoration event devoted to them. The exhibition  devoted to Artsakh War was modified.

2016 marked 150th anniversary of Diocese of the Armenian Atrpatakan  Nerses Melik- Tangyan. within the framework of the annual event ,,Crossroad of the generations,, in the  museum was  organized a ceremony  devoted to the anniversary and  was opened a corner devoted to Nerses Meliq- Tangyan.

Bread Festival- 2016

24 of September- Day the second; the Bread Festival of the museum was opened by greetings, popular- national songs, newly baked bread and fresh wine. Everybody took part with wish to speak, sing and dance …

 Holiday is when there is bread on the table and peace on Earth.

 Before Bread Festival on September 3 there was organized a meeting in house-museum of Hamo Sahyan with elderly, who keep and make live the traditions of baking Lavash and stories about bread. We brought with us in museum more than  10 stories about bread. The stories will be introduced during upcoming ,,Bread Festival,,. Those stories originating from bread penetrate into the deepest folds of human relations and prove that human being has become a person due to bread….

« Adonts days» 2016 is 145 anniversary of Nikoghayos Adonts

  ,, History museum of Sisian after N. Adonts,, SNCO celebrated 145 anniversary of N. Adonts. It became final for educational program «Adonts days».

 On 31 of July a scientific expedition-tour was organized to city Goris of Syuniq  and  Old   Kyores  village  for students and senior pupils.

N. Adonts insist that his great-grandfather priest Ter- Avetiq, who was one of the comrades-in-arms of Davit Bek and the  bravest soldier, is buried in the churchyard of Old Kyores. It is about the period of 1740-50. Although we saw and heard a lot of new things but could not find the grave of legendary priest- soldier. Too many buildings was destroyed and rebuilt in those areas.

 The second ceremony organized in Adonts’s native village Brnakot. At first we visited St. Georg church on which central pillar carved the name of Adonts’s grandfather Addy.  Priests of Syuni church led us to light the candle and prey for repose of the soul of the great scientist. We put flowers and censed the grave of Adonts’s father Georg Ter- Avetiqyan, who buried in  Brnakot’s churchyard. In 1912 Adonts came to Brnakot and buried his father. The ceremony was continued in the house where the great scantiest was born. It was built in 1866.

The final ceremony devoted to ,,Adonts days,, and 145 anniversary of  N. Adonts    was organized in Sisian history museum.  A corner was opened devoted to scientist in cultural figures section . The headmistress of the museum Tsovinar Petrosyan had an extensive report.

 Young participants of the ceremony were given N. Adonts’ s ,,Davit Bek and the generation of Ter- Avetiq,, article- booklet published by the museum.

In the ceremony the results of competition,, Adonts day,, were summarized and the winners were awarded.

Pilgrim journey to Spitakavor monastry, to the grave of Garegin Nzhdeh

On 16^th of July Histiry museum of Sisian organized its 6^th pilgrimage. It was devoted to 130 anniversary of  G. Nzhdeh. The group from 21 members / especially youth/ by undertaking of headmistress Ts. Petrosyan have been  in Spitakavor monastery of Vayots Dzor region where Commander’s  grave is.  Flowers were laid on his grave, incense was burn and candles were lit. The participants  of pilgrimage also learnt more about the unique monument which was built in XIV century, there were performed cleaning works.

On 15^th of June was opened the  exhibition devoted to  130 anniversary  of Garegin Njdeh which was followed by  a ceremony devoted to his life and  fight for independence of Zangezur. The participants especially youth decided to devote their next pilgrim  journey to Commander of Mountainous Armenia and visit  Spitakavor’s St. Virgin church where Hjdeh is buried. The pilgrim  journey  will arranged to the 20^th of  July.

On the 1^st of June the international children’s day was celebrated with Sisian’s   N 1 kindergarten’s children of senior group, young parents and baby’s citers.  The topic for ceremony was homeland, and love to Armenia. We spoke about country’s symbols. Patriotic songs and poems were sounds in the end of the ceremony.

 ,, Museums night,, has become one of  the favorite  ceremonies of  local people for several years. People came with families, relatives and in groups. The exhibition of  the museum  introducing the history of  Sisian at the beginning of XX century was supplemented with one important  part: ,, Armenian-Tatar clashes in Sisian in 1905-06,,. Not only this but other ceremonies as well were interesting for people. There were sounds songs, poems, visitor took part in candle lighting ceremony to commemorate all our victims and were entertained with traditional Zangezur’s halva.

Qaradaran  which occupies 4800 square meters area  was cleaned and tidied  up,   some  monuments were put on bases before  the event ,,The museums and the cultural landscapes,,. It was a cold and rainy day, but we had many visitors. The Qaradaran presents about 9000 years old history with its unique monuments  and it   is  one of the best  section of the museum.         

On the 7^th of  May an event held in honor to Victories in May and was devoted to The soldiers of  Sisian of all time, The participants were senior and junior representatives of  Sisian volunteer  union. A song was played for the first time in the museum written by Sisian Volunteer’s Commander Ashot Minasyan, young volunteers, their commander Arsen  Avagyan who took part in April's fights in 2016  and other volunteers   had  speeches. The ceremony was interesting and affective.

 On the 28^th of  April  on occasion of Francophone Days in Armenia

an event was held in the museum devoted to national hero of France Misak           Manouchian, who was  Armenian by origin. In the  museum has been  introduced an entire    cultural period through   his biography from 1915 to 1970, till the film of our days ,,The army   of the crime,, by Rober Gedikyan, and the all taboos about which Armenia has been silent for  a  long time.

In 2014, May 9, there was an event devoted to all May wins in History museum of Sisian. The museum guested  the fighters of Sisakan regiment, the participants of Artsakh War, their families, relatives. They looked  the exhibition, then had a talk in the hall devoted to Artsakh War.

Garegin Njdeh - 130

On 15th of June was opened the exhibition devoted to 130 anniversary of Garegin Njdeh which was followed by a ceremony devoted to his life and fight for independence of Zangezur. The participants especially youth decided to devote their next pilgrim journey to Commander of Mountainous Armenia and visit Spitakavor’s St. Astvatzatzin/Virgin/ monastery where Njdeh is buried. The pilgrim journey will be arranged till 20th of July.
